We have a choice of four diverse, fun and interesting summer workshops detailed below….
1. Kid’s Pottery Experiences
Monday 22nd July 2019 9:00am – 12 noon OR 1:00pm – 4pm
These two workshops are for children (8+) with a maximum of 8 attendees on each. During the workshops the children will each make an item that the teacher decides on, such as an animal, plate or mug.
These workshops cost £40 per child, which includes teaching and refreshments, as well as a finished piece of pottery to take home later after it has been fired, glazed and fired again. This workshop is led by Lara Gorlach
2. Throwing Practice
Monday 29th July 2019 9am – 4pm
This workshop is for potters who want to improve their throwing skills and for beginners who want to try throwing on the wheel.
On this workshop you will learn how to throw mugs, jugs and pull handles. You will be able to decorate your finished pots with coloured slips. They will then be fired and clear glazed for you to pick up at a later stage.
This workshop is open only to adults (18+), with a maximum of 8 attendees.
This workshop costs £120 per adult, which includes teaching and refreshments, as well as finished pots to take home later. This workshop is led by Susana Garcia. Please bring your own packed lunch along.
3. An Introduction to Clay Animal Sculpture
Thursday 25th July 2019 7-10pm AND Tuesday 30th July 2019 7-10pm
An Introduction to Clay Animal Sculpture is an ideal 2-part course for either a beginner eager to sculpt your first animal or perhaps a keen potter ready to develop the 3D form through hand-building techniques. You will be shown how to apply contemporary and traditional approaches to create your very own choice of a seated animal figure.
Taking inspiration from your sketches and other inspirational materials you can collect beforehand, the course begins pinching a small maquette, which will be a working model for your larger final figure (approx. 12” high).
Taking place over two 3 hr sessions you will be guided in a series of demonstrations that show you the key stages, whilst providing support every step of the way. This will be a fun approach and you will be free to use your own creative spirit!
After the course your figures will slowly be dried out and then fired in our kilns. This workshop costs £120, which includes both sessions, materials and one firing. It is led by Helen Ashton.
Optionally, you will be offered the opportunity to return for a later glazing session on Saturday 7th September, 2019 10am -12noon to bring colour and life to your piece. This costs £35, covering tuition, glaze and the final firing.
