The Clay Studio is looking for someone with a background in ceramics who has a keen interest in teaching to join our friendly team at our vibrant lively studio.
You will be provided with a broad range of training and as a result will contribute to the day-to-day running of the studio, acting as a technician, and helping out with a wide variety of tasks including class preparation, clearing up, loading and unloading kiln and mixing glazes. You will also assist in classes, with a view to running your own classes in the future.
Being passionate about ceramics and to have experience in, for example, hand building, wheel throwing, surface decoration, glazing and mixed media are key ingredients for this role.
You might perhaps be a recent ceramics graduate (or have an equivalent qualification) or be someone with a background in ceramics wishing to return to work after a break. We are flexible.
You must love mixing with people and be energetic, outgoing and bubbly. You should be a good communicator who has the potential to explain and demonstrate techniques clearly. Our students range in age from 18 to 88 and feeling comfortable dealing with the public is essential.
Hours can be flexible to suit personal circumstances but please note there is some evening work, and possible weekend hours from time to time. Both full and part-time are possible, and this role could be shared between two people, so don’t be put off if you feel you may be unable to cover all requirements.
You need to be a car owner as The Clay Studio is located in a rural location on the Kent/Sussex border.
For a more detailed discussion about the role in the first instance please email Eunice Locher explaining what interests you and attach your CV: firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you.
