Screen Printing on Clay
After the success of our recent Print, Pattern & Texture course, where we introduced students to screen printing onto clay, we are now offering a full day!
Using various methods, Lara and Lisa will guide you through the whole screen printing process, helping you to realise and transfer your designs onto clay.
A full day workshop, 9am-4pm.
Your Tutors: Lara Gorlach and Lisa Jones
Lara is a professionally-trained textile designer and screen printer. Her obsession with pattern and texture led her to translate her knowledge and design skills to work in ceramics.
As a ceramic artist Lisa predominantly hand-builds; using matte colour and texture to create playful forms. She has a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Ceramics.
This screen printing workshop will help you create one off pieces with print and pattern, learning and understanding how this particular print process works.
Throughout this full day workshop you will be given time to discuss your design, hand build your piece in stoneware clay, and with paper stencils, existing screen designs, layering and more, you will create two pieces.
If you are a new or existing student this is a great way to further your knowledge in
understanding how to translate a pattern onto clay.
FURTHER DETAILS
This workshop is open to adults (16+) and is suitable for all abilities, including beginners. It’s a fun activity to share with friends, or equally as an individual.
Refreshments of tea, coffee and cake will be provided morning and afternoon on the day. Please make sure you bring your own lunch with you.
Items you make to take home are included in the price. Finished pieces will be fired and glazed, ready for pickup around two to three weeks after the workshop.
These pottery workshops provide a great opportunity for a “Taster Session” if you are contemplating joining a class. There is nothing like a full hands-on experience, working within a group of like-minded people, and getting a good feel for the facilities, energy and atmosphere of the studio.
