Autumn term 2021: Classes restarted (w/c 4th October) for 11 teaching weeks in total , ending w/c 13th December 2021. The full cost is £350.
All levels from beginner to experienced are very welcome at the studio on all classes. We teach various aspects of ceramics from hand building, sculpture, throwing on the wheel, and a range of decorating and glazing techniques. This is to ensure that you are able to experience all methods and will be rewarded by taking some beautifully hand-built and designed pieces away with you at the end of the course.
Other than the two Monday daytime classes, there will be two teachers present per class. The classes run by terms, which work around school holidays, providing morning, afternoon and evening sessions. The cost of all courses includes teaching, tools, equipment, studio space and refreshments. Any items you make will be weighed and charged for to cover the materials and firing costs.
For beginners on our 11 week classes, over the first 5 weeks we will be taking students step-by-step through a series of hand building and decorating techniques to produce some lovely pieces and having fun. It’s important to start by learning the fundamentals and getting a real feel for clay. At that point the class becomes less structured with more choices including the wheel.
More experienced potters will have plenty of freedom to explore their particular interests.
Although beginners are catered for across all classes, we are running two 5-week Monday morning and afternoon taster classes specifically for beginners, taking you step-by-step through the pottery process from scratch. These are priced at £160 each.
