Botanical Plaster Casting
During this workshop, you will be playing with botanical forms and will leave the workshop with a collection of beautiful casts.
Learn the process of working with plaster to cast your own arrangement of botanical forms and foliage.
Your tutor for this workshop is led by Eloise Nash.
The fascinating qualities of plaster will allow you to capture the intricate textures, patterns and shapes of your chosen flowers and plants. You will be guided in creating an arrangement that best captures the qualities of your forms before then working with the teacher to mix and pour the plaster. Once the plaster is set you will reveal your creation by peeling back the clay. There will be time for a break to allow for the plaster to set and have a cup of tea before we then clean them up ready to take home.
WORKSHOP DETAILS
The teacher will provide a selection of foraged items but you are encouraged to bring your own selection of plant life that is personal to you. This may even be of sentimental value, allowing you to capture the form in your creation for many years to come. You are also welcome to bring along textured fabric or items of your choice.
For those of you who attend our regular classes or perhaps work with clay in your own time, these casts may also be used as a cast onto which you can press clay to use within your clay creations.
These workshops are open to adults (14+) and is a fun activity to share with friends or as an individual. The cost includes instruction and materials. Refreshments and drinks included.
Finished pieces can be taken home at the end of the workshop.
