Nerikomi: Flower Patterns
Nerikomi is a Japanese process of layering different coloured clays and then slicing through to create a pattern.
This workshop is perfect for those with some previous experience of Nerikomi, for example, our Nerikomi workshop for beginners.
For this workshop you will learn how to make a Nerikomi flower pattern by combining coloured clay shapes, slicing through, then arranging the slices to form a pattern.
Your Tutor: Susana Garcia
During this immersive 4-hour workshop, we will focus on the art of Nerikomi making. There will be a selection of pre-coloured porcelains provided, plus the opportunity to make your own colours by mixing stains directly into the porcelain.
Susana will then guide you, through a series of step-by-step demonstrations, on how to work with this special clay to create traditional Nerikomi patterns.
Once the pattern is created, you will then use it to form an oval dish and a tile or coaster.
Finished pieces will be fired, sanded, glazed, then fired again. Ready for pickup in approximately 4 weeks.
