Print, Pattern and Texture
In this new and exciting five week course you will learn various techniques of surface decoration for ceramics.
Learn and experience various techniques of print, pattern, texture and surface decoration.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced student, this is a great way to further your knowledge in understanding all things pattern and texture. Giving you more time to experiment and try something new. This five Sunday session course is open to all adults (16+).
Your Tutors: Lara Gorlach and Lisa Jones
Lara is a professionally-trained textile designer and screen printer. Her obsession with pattern and texture led her to translate her knowledge and design skills to work in ceramics.
As a ceramic artist Lisa predominantly hand-builds; using matte colour and texture to create playful forms. She has a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Ceramics.
Course tutors Lara and Lisa will demonstrate many methods of design and decoration over five Sundays, giving you the time to explore and experiment on your own pieces.
Techniques we will cover include:
- Screen-printing
- Mono-printing
- Stamp-making
- Surface texture, with found and made objects
- Decal transfers
- Glazing
You will produce various test tiles, bowls, vases, trinket dishes, stamps and a mug.
Lots of time to play and enjoy this hands-on experience with clay and its many possibilities.
Course cost includes instruction and refreshments. In addition any finished pieces you make which will be weighed and charged a small fee per 100g to cover the cost of materials and firing.
