Kerrie’s story of how she came to working with clay is unique and remarkable, and one that we’re proud to share.
We are delighted to be welcoming ceramicist Kate S We are delighted to be welcoming ceramicist Kate Semple to host this workshop on Saturday 9th May. 
Learn how Kate creates emotive vessels, reminiscent of an artist’s still life, thinking about how the forms interact and the shadows they create.
Working with rolled out slabs of clay, she will be  sharing her techniques to study form and construct a harmonious trio of bottles.

Colour pop! We don’t see our studio Signal Red gla Colour pop! We don’t see our studio Signal Red glaze being used that often by students but it can be fantastic when used in the right situations. This combo works really well. Nice detail on the petrol blue glaze too with the scored marks showing through. 🙌
First up in our new student story series is @tatte First up in our new student story series is @tattersfield_designs — Jane has a distinct style that she translates from her typical 2D style, into her clay pieces, with common themes of Indian & Mexican inspirations.

Learn and experience various techniques of print, Learn and experience various techniques of print, pattern, texture and surface decoration on our new course, coming up in April. 
Tutors Lara Gorlach and Lisa Jones will demonstrate many methods of design and decoration over five Sundays, giving you the time to explore and experiment.
Techniques will include screen-printing, as seen here, mono-printing, stamp-making, texture, transfers, and glaze methods. 
Lara is a professionally-trained textile designer and screen printer. Her obsession with pattern and texture led her to translate her knowledge and design skills to work in ceramics. @laragorlach 
As a ceramic artist Lisa predominantly hand-builds; using matte colour and texture to create playful forms. She has a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Ceramics. @c_l_a_y_d_a_y

With over 200 weekly class students, plus our workshops and courses, you can imagine the amount of pottery tools we might use collectively. 
Finding storage spots that still keeps everything to hand becomes a bit of an art form. We are blessed to have such a fantastic space to work in. 
And to keep tabs on all those tools? Little blue dots are patiently painted on by a willing member of the team. Quite enjoyable really!

Explore architectural forms and construction detai Explore architectural forms and construction details on this engrossing handbuilding and design course which returns on 17 April. 
Take inspiration from a building or location special to you, or capture the essence of a particular architectural style to realise a dream structure. With a big emphasis on the design process, the course focuses on slab building, paying close attention to fine detail. 
During these relaxed small groups sessions, participants will be encouraged to develop their creative process and explore different ways of working. With advice on how to plan and develop ideas, one-on-one tuition, technical guidance and support.
Course dates: 17 April – 22 May 2026

Join us for an exciting evening of Obvara! This an Join us for an exciting evening of Obvara! This ancient low firing Raku technique is a process for all the senses. 
Bisque fired pots are heated in a Raku kiln to around 1000 deg C and once glowing orange are plunged into the fermented Obvara brew, then dipped in cold water to halt the process. It’s fast, magical and the results can be spectacular!
Workshop Date: Friday 20th March
Time: 6-9pm
Bring three of your own bisque pieces or choose from a selection we provide.

Such a fun technique, which can also be combined with decoration methods at bisque stage such as adding underglaze pencil or wax resist.

Any clean, leftover raw clay used by students is carefully processed and returned to life as smooth, reusable clay, ready for the next creation.
