For our term project this year, instead of suggest For our term project this year, instead of suggesting a particular form or item to make, we are encouraging students to experiment with mixed media. From adding wooden or metal handles, to decorative elements featuring beads, leather or textiles. We have selection of gathered items in the studio to use and look forward to seeing what our students forage to include in their projects. We have great pleasure in welcoming back Sussex-ba We have great pleasure in welcoming back Sussex-based basket weaver Matilda Grover, who will be running a two day workshop with us in February. Matilda will be teaching participants how to make a beautiful, small willow frame basket, perfect for storing and displaying fruit and vegetables. No previous experience of basketry needed but as it is a physical process, reasonable hand strength is required. Refreshments and a light vegetarian lunch are included as well as all materials. Here’s just a few examples from our archive of student’s creations to give you a taster. What would you make? Interpretations can be personal, playful, thought-provoking or even challenging. From functional tableware to figurative sculpture; abstract or realistic.
