Mug and Dish Making – Decorating with Slip, with Lara and Kate
Learn to make and decorate your own unique mug and dish set, under the guidance of designers Lara Gorlach and Kate Sellers
Enjoy a fun and playful workshop experience, creating and designing with clay, colour and pattern
In an exciting collaboration, Lara Gorlach and Kate Sellers – two designers with a shared passion for pattern and colour – will guide you on this new full day workshop to hand-build a mug & dish set, then explore the joys of decorative slip design.
Lara is an expert in textile print design using carefully considered drawings from organic and natural forms. Contrasted with strong lines and abstract shapes she creates all-over repeat patterns on her textiles and ceramics. She also teaches weekly classes and courses here at The Clay Studio. Kate is a multi-disciplined creative. It was her craft as a prop stylist and set designer that drove her desire to take up pottery. She now focuses on a collection of plates and homeware with ‘Isolation faces’ and Duci stripes. Quirky designs using slip that aim to make people smile and bring pleasure in the every day moments. Refreshments of tea and coffee plus cake will be provided morning and afternoon on the day, but please bring a packed lunch with you. Items you have made to take home are included in the price. Finished pieces will be fired and glazed, ready for pickup around two to three weeks after the workshop.
These pottery workshops prove a great taster session if you are contemplating joining one of our weekly classes. There is nothing like a full hands-on experience with a group of like-minded people, and our workshops will give you a good feel for the facilities, energy and atmosphere of the studio.
